Phillip Jacob Reigenborn of Akron, Ohio passed away Sept. 9,2023. He was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Julesburg, Colorado to Phillip and Elizabeth Sibel Reigenborn. His parents both passed away when he was young and he was raised by his older siblings. He was the youngest of 11 children.
He graduated from Sedgwick High School in 1946. Then enlisted in to the Army. He was released but called back in during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal W/3 Bronze Stars. He received a Honorable discharge in Sept. 1951.
He then took advantage of the VA loan and attended the University of Northern Colorado, getting a Bachelor Degree in Education. He taught school for 3 years in Litchfield, NE. before moving to Bath, Ohio opening a meat locker.
He was caretaker for his oldest sister, Anna. She helped him for years at the meat locker. He also was caretaker for his brother Jacob, who came home from WWII with PTSD, and later years took care of John.
Phillip was VERY GENEROUS to all his brothers and sisters. He was always there when any of the nieces or nephews need help.
In 2018 Phillip was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia leaving him unable to care for himself and he was placed in a home. This left his nephew, Raymond, in charge of his welfare.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Valentine, Gottlieb, Jacob, John, Peter, George, and Joseph. Sisters, Anna, Katherine, and Mary. Also 15 nieces and nephews. He is survived by 19 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Julesburg at 10:30 am with Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Ovid Cemetery with Military Honors
