Minnie K. Splitter of Big Springs, NE, entered into eternal life on December 4, 2019, at the Sedgwick County Memorial Nursing Home in Julesburg, Colorado, at the age of 97.
She was born Minnie Kathryn Anderson to Charles and Della Anderson on December 2, 1922, in Torrington, Wyoming. She was the youngest of four children. At the age of four, her family moved to Brule, Nebraska, where she attended school and graduated from Brule High School in 1940. She attended Kearney State Teachers College, and after teaching for two years, she married Donald D. Kuskie, Sr. and moved to a farm southeast of Big Springs. Three children were born to this union: Donald Jr., Susan, and Ann. Following her husband's death in 1962, Min worked at the Big Springs post office and continued to manage the family farm. She was married to Delmont Splitter in March of 1973.
Min was active in Progressive Club and the United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees and gave many programs for the women's organization UMW. She enjoyed living on the farm, gardening, art, poetry, and attending local activities and sporting events with her husband.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Kuskie and Delmont Splitter; her parents; a brother, Andy (Verna) Anderson; two sisters, Gladys (Martin) Roberts and Osie (Bud) Van Velson; and a step-great grandson, Kai Lundstrom.
Survivors include a son, Donald Kuskie (Susan) of Littleton, CO; daughter, Susan Klemme (Bruce) of Greeley, CO; daughter, Ann Stanley of Glasgow, MT; step-son, Monty Splitter (Brenda) of Kearney, NE; step-daughter, Susan Campton (Chuck) of Canon City, CO; step-daughter, Diana Kellermeyer of Sahuarita, AZ; seven grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; nine, great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beatrice Kampfe (Herald) of Sidney, NE, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in Minnie's name to the Sedgwick County Memorial Nursing Home courtyard project or the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Big Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Bun Koo Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.
