LORAINE IONE MARQUARDT, 91, of Julesburg, CO, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Born on January 9, 1932, in Julesburg, Loraine was the daughter of Elmer and Theresa (Dittmar) Klitzke. She was welcomed into the faith through Baptism on February 28, 1932, and later Confirmed her faith on June 9, 1946. Her Confirmation Verse = John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Loraine married Marvin "Sam" Marquardt on June 27, 1948, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Julesburg, and the couple made their home on the family farm. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Barbara, and two sons, Bruce and Jeff. The couple would live, raise their children, and farm south of Julesburg for the rest of their married lives.
Loraine's life was characterized by her steadfast love for her family and her unwavering faith. She excelled as a wife and homemaker, with her faith directing her steps in all that she did.
Music was a treasured part of Loraine's life, and she loved to sing hymns, whether it was at home at the kitchen table or on a car ride into town with her young family. Music was a joyful part of family life in the Marquardt home.
Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her parents, Elmer and Theresa Klitzke; and her brother, Vernon Klitzke.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Bouvier of New Haven, CT; sons, Bruce (Betsy) Marquardt and Jeff (Renee) Marquardt; sister, Sharon Robison of Julesburg; sister-in-law, Sandra Klitzke of Fort McCoy, FL; grandchildren Shara, Jean-Claude (Liz), Dustin (Megan), and Brandee (Jay Chapman); and seven great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials in Loraine's memory may be made to the Orphan Grain Train or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Venango. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com, where her memorial service will be live-streamed.
Services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Venango with Rev. Kurt Hatteberg officiating. Inurnment will be in the Venango Cemetery.
