Leon D. Woodhams passed away on March 12, 2025, at his home in Ovid.
Leon was born September 13,1946 in Julesburg, CO, son of Everette and Florence Woodhams of Ovid.
Leon graduated from Ovid High School in May 1964, where he was outstanding at football and one tough SOB. This is where he dated the love of his life and went on to Pipefitters Journeyman School in Denver.
He eventually married Rosi Moist on July 2, 1967, in Julesburg. CO and moved to Greeley, where they had their first-born Shannon Lee, then eventually moved back to Ovid to their family farm, where they had Karla Kay and Stacy Dean.
He went on to farm and raise a cattle herd of his own. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local Union #208 for 57 years. He would routinely work from time to time on the Nuclear Plant in Platteville, welding on the Ovid Bridges, working at the Budweiser plant in Ft Collins, the Power Plant in Brush, and the Sterling Correctional Facility, with his passion always being his cattle.
He loved watching the grandkids play whatever sport was in season, beaming with pride in all the state championship teams his grandkids were involved with; he and Rosi never missed a sporting event or activity of the grandkids. They were all his pride and joy, and he always strived to give them the best opportunity possible, no matter the situation.
Ultimately, his favorite season was always branding season, enjoying time with his family and friends every spring after a long winter of cold, snow, and calving. He had a heart of gold, the orneriest giggle, and smirk, and would do anything at the drop of a hat to help out his family or friends.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Florence Woodhams, Sister Vera Ann Lanhert, Brother Bruce Woodhams, Nephew Mick Draper, and Great-Grandson Wade Dunker.
