Jason A. Toyne, of Sedgwick, CO, passed away March 9, 2025, at the age of 42 from an auto accident.
Jason was born March 21, 1982, in Haxtun, CO. He graduated from Revere High School in 2000 and went on to study agriculture at NJC where he graduated with an Associates in 2002. Jason worked on the family farm near Sedgwick most of his life. He was most proud to continue the traditions of raising Black Angus Cattle his Uncle Frosty started and beekeeping that his grandpa Dooley started. As a teenager Jason traveled showing cattle at Junior Angus Association shows and in 4-H. He also shot trap many years and would travel and compete in shooting competitions.
Jason joined the Sedgwick Volunteer Fire Department in 2000 and served as Assistant Chief or Chief for most of the 25 years he was on the department.
In his spare time,he enjoyed hunting, shooting guns and riding his motorcycles. Jason made friends wherever he went because he always wanted to learn new things. Jason was only a call away for anyone that needed a helping hand. He also participated in many successful and unsuccessful demolition derbies. He especially loved rounding up a group for a floating trip down the South Platte when the water ran high.
In 2004, Jason met Jan (Davis) who later became his wife in December 2007. They had two children, Jennifer and Flynt, who they raised on the farm. He enjoyed teaching both his children the ins and outs of farming, cattle raising, beekeeping, haying, and repairing equipment.
Jason is survived by his wife Jan Toyne; his children Jennifer and Flynt Toyne; his mother Kathleen Tatum and step-mother Sandy Toyne; Grandmothers Ellen Toyne and Faye Wright; brothers Charles Toyne, Forrest Toyne, Dan Wright Jr., James Wright; sister Crystal (Rick) Radel; Uncle David (Kris) Toyne; Aunt Carolyn (Jim) Peterson, Great-Great Aunt Jean Toyne and many more loving Uncles & Aunts; Brother-in-Law Jeff (Teresa) Davis; and many nieces and nephews.
