JANICE NELSON, 84, of Julesburg, CO, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, at the Regent Park Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Holyoke, CO.

Janice was born on February 10, 1939, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Evelyn Earline (Nellis) and Doyle Ferguson. Growing up and moving around, she went through school in Julesburg and graduated JHS Class of 1957.

Her mother Earline had remarried John Sandoval, who raised her, and her sister Patrica and later youngest sister Nancy came along.

After graduation, Janice married Allen Westerbuhr on June 21, 1957, and the couple made their home in Julesburg. Together, they had three children: Kenny, John, and Jana Lee.

In the early years, Janice worked at Spears Rexall Drug, where she made many lifelong friends. As the years passed, she worked at The Cleaners and The GW Sugar Beet Factory in Ovid. Janice enjoyed babysitting for numerous families throughout the years. Janice's only sport was Bowling, and boy, could she Bowl. In later years, Janice and Allen very much enjoyed traveling around to Auctions and garage sales, where they would gather their findings and take them back to the original Antiques and Artisans Store, where they had a booth or several.

Janice sold Avon for many years. She enjoyed socializing, having coffee every day with her friends and was a lover of the Antiques mentioned. The family was very important to Janice, and she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grands all very much. She was a member of the Christian Church in Julesburg.

On October 16, 2000, she married Martin Nelson in Phoenix, AZ. The couple lived in Julesburg.

Janice is survived by her children, John (Chellee) Westerbuhr of Julesburg and Jana Lee (John) Beal of Nebraska City, NE; five grandchildren, Miranda (Jerami) Blundell, and John M. Beal; Damien, Dawn (Jorge Rios), and Ronnie Westerbuhr, four great-grandchildren, Khysen and Khaydence Blundell, Jorge, and Julian Rios; siblings, Patricia (Chip) Lindner of Tehama, CA Nancy (Leon) Slater of Holton, MI and many other Nieces, Nephews and friends.
