DORIS YOUNG, 85, of Sedgwick, passed away December 23, 2022, at the Sedgwick County Hospital in Julesburg.
Doris was born October 6, 1937, three miles north of Sedgwick, Colorado, to Norris and Jennie (Crowfoot) Mussey. Her family moved to Denver in about 1940. She graduated from South High School with the class of 1955 and subsequently earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Northern Colorado.
On August 18, 1957, Doris married Vincent Young at John Collins Methodist Church in Denver, Colorado. And their union was blessed with three children Elaine, Reva, and David. Vince and Doris shared 65 years of marriage.
Doris was a dedicated teacher at Westview Elementary in Northglenn, CO., until her retirement in 1993.
The couple made their home in Denver for 40 years. In 1995 after Doris retired, they moved back to Sedgwick.
Doris enjoyed doing things with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Doris volunteered at the Welcome Center in Julesburg, was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Sedgwick, and was a member of the Super Susies.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Josephine Mussey.
Survivors include her husband, Vincent of Sedgwick, CO; sister, Marian Timpe of Denver, CO; daughters, Elaine Gomez of Algona, IA; Reva (Bill) Hewgley, son, David Young, of Sedgwick, CO; sister-in-law Bernice Minor, brother-in-law Emil Sand, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many great friends.

Memorial Sercive will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at the Sedgwick Community Center in Sedgwick, CO, with Pastor Larry Nail officiating.
A private Inurnment will be at the Sedgwick Cemetery at a later date.
Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Julesburg is in charge of arrangements.
