DONN "JACK" MILLER, 89 of Julesburg, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Sedgwick County Memorial Nursing Home.
Jack was born December 29, 1929, in Sedgwick County, Colorado to Albert "Bert" and Mae Alta (Pfau) Miller. He graduated from Julesburg High School with the class of 1948. He subsequently entered the U.S. Army where he served in a Tanker Infantry Company during the Korean War.
Following his discharge, Jack returned home to Colorado where he married Marian Novinger on August 30, 1953. In 1959, Jack and Bud Rook built the Melody Lanes Bowling Alley in Julesburg. The original structure would later burn down but would be reconstructed by Jack and Dorsey Arnold. He sold Melody Lanes in the mid-1970s and went on to partner in the Lowery Miller Oil Company, which would have locations throughout Sedgwick, Deuel, and Keith counties. In the late 70s, Jack elected for a change of pace and became a rural mail carrier, retiring after twenty years.
Jack was an avid sports fan and was a fabulous bowler in his own right. He loved watching football and basketball especially when the Colorado Buffaloes were playing. Jack also played an integral role in the development of the Sedgwick County Golf Course.
Jack was preceded in death by his siblings Dick, Lynn, Loren, Jim, Loree, Margie, Patricia, and Joanne.
Survivors include his wife, Marian of Julesburg along with many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 10:30a.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Julesburg with Kerry Johnson officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Julesburg at a later date.
