Dennis "Dennie" E. Meyer

DENNIS "DENNIE" MEYER, 60, of Julesburg, CO, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022, at his home.

Dennie was born on February 15, 1962, at Ogallala, Nebraska, to Donald Ned and Betty Katherine (Kilgore) Meyer. He graduated from Big Springs High School with the class of 1980.

Dennie entered HVAC school and went to work for Springer's Appliance in Ogallala before going to work for Kenfield Electric. He worked at Bosselman's before joining a partnership to buy a bar in Big Springs in February of 1992. Dennie tended bar for some years before working as a meat cutter at the Julesburg grocery store. He truly enjoyed his work behind the meat counter and eventually went to work for Safeway in Ogallala doing the same.

Dennie loved to play golf and bowl when he got the chance. He was an avid Husker football fan through thick and thin.

Dennie was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his siblings, Douglas Meyer of Big Springs, NE, Jackie (Dale) Gertsch of Monroe, NE, and Barb Hensley of Big Springs, NE; nieces and nephews, Jessica (Joe) Ewert of David City, NE, Jacob and Karlie Studham of Rising City, NE, Brittany Hensley of Big Springs; two great nieces and a great nephew; along with many other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Big Springs Volunteer Fire Department in Dennie's memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com, where the services will be live streamed.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home chapel in Julesburg, with Pastor Alan Harris officiating. Inurnment will be in the Big Springs Cemetery.
