DEANNA "SUE" MCGREER, 61, of Big Springs, NE, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby, KS, after a 27-year fight with brain cancer.
Sue was born May 26, 1959, at Julesburg, CO, to Gerald and Lucille Price. She was raised on a ranch near Sedgwick. Sue graduated from Revere High School with the class of 1977, where she had excelled in basketball, volleyball, track, and 4-H.
On November 24, 1979, Sue married K.C. McGreer, and their union was blessed with two children, Tyson and Wendy. Sue was a secretary at TRW prior to the kids being born, then later, Sue worked at B&K Tavern, McBride Farms, and at Country Supply until her health would no longer allow.
Sue gave generously of her time, having served as a member and past President of the Big Springs Firemans Auxiliary, coaching youth athletics, and as a Neighborhood Mom.
Sue didn't mince words and most typically told the unvarnished truth. Her passion was her Grandkids all while unselfishly battling with cancer.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Price, and her grandparents.
Survivors include her husband, K.C. McGreer of Big Springs; children, Tyson (Mandy) McGreer and their children, Brody, Tate, and Tanner, of Colby, KS, Wendy (Kyle) Fornander and their children, Taylor and Kole of Oshkosh; mother, Lucy Price of Sedgwick; siblings, Jim and Lynn Price; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Julesburg, with Fr. Mike O'Brien officiating. Interment of Cremains will be in the Big Springs Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Sue's memory for later designation, with the intent to support hospice and cancer research. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfunealhome.com, where a recording of the service will be posted.
Prairie Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
