CONNIE J. JUHL, 66 of Julesburg, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020, at the Longmont United Hospital.
Connie was born December 23, 1953, at Lexington, Nebraska, to Ralph and Marian (Collins) Marquardt. She graduated from Julesburg High School with the class of 1972. Connie attended Colorado State University before graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in special education. She took a job in human resources with ResCare in Longmont, where she was the Regional Director for the west coast. On September 23, 2007, Connie married Charles Juhl, and the couple would eventually make their home in Julesburg. Connie worked as the Director of Economic Development in Julesburg for several years until her health would no longer allow.
Connie was deeply connected to her family, community, and church. She was a tireless volunteer, spending a great deal of time with the Orphan Grain Train, Hippodrome Arts Centre, the Colorado Welcome Center, along with staying active with St. Paul Lutheran Church in Julesburg.
Connie was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She was always trying to help the people around her that needed it. She was devoted to her children and loved doting over her grandson, Hudson.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, Ralph.
Survivors include her husband, Charles of Julesburg, CO; son, Joseph Ian Riesselmann of Loveland, CO; daughter, Kara Sue Riesselmann of Wellington, CO; grandson, Hudson Philip Hamack of Wellington, CO; mother, Marian Marquardt of Julesburg, CO; siblings, Terry (Elisa) Marquardt of Cary, NC, Steven Marquardt of Colorado Springs, CO, Sue Ann (Roger) Freitag of Parker, CO; along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Sedgwick County Cancer Support and the Orphan Grain Train in her memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Julesburg with Rev. Trenton D. Christensen officiating. Committal will be in the Julesburg Hillside Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Prairie Hills Funeral Home.
