Caroline Ruth Zimmerman (Best Peterson) Lindauer passed from this life on November 23, 2020.
Caroline was born on July 11, 1928, to Frank Jacob and Elmerta Ruth (Millsap) Zimmerman on a farm north of Big Springs, Nebraska. She graduated from Big Springs high school and attended Chadron State Teachers College, where she met and married Philip Best. After her first marriage ended, she moved her family to Colorado, where she met the first love of her life, Keith Peterson. Caroline and Keith lived and raised their blended family in Ovid, CO, until Keith passed away.
Caroline married the second love of her life, Keith Lindauer, and moved to Long Beach, CA, and later to Bend, OR, to be closer to family. Caroline's Christian faith provided her with unwavering support throughout her life; she was a member of the Julesburg Christian Church and Disciples of Christ in Long Beach, CA, for many years.
Everyone knew Caroline as a loving person whose greatest joy in life was spending time with her surviving family members: husband, Keith Lindauer; sister, Ilene Dye; daughters, JoAnne Best, Gayle McKay, Dawn Best, and Kim Peterson; stepdaughter, Jaynne Lindauer; and sons, Philip Best, Ken Peterson, Mike Best, and Steven Peterson; and over 50 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Willard, Lawrence, Ernest, Vernon, and Franklin; and her sisters, Esther, Wilma, Alice, and Peggy; husband, Keith Peterson; daughter, Shelley Kizer; and son, Jack Peterson.
A memorial has been established in Caroline's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com, where a recording of the service will be posted.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at the Julesburg Christian Church with Pastor Kerry Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Julesburg Hillside Cemetery.
