BETTY J. POWELL, 89, of Julesburg, CO, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, at the Sedgwick County Memorial Nursing Home in Julesburg.
Betty was born October 6, 1932, at Eckley, Colorado, to Vene and Mable (Newton) Critchfield, where she grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Eckley High School with the class of 1950.
On March 6, 1971, Betty married Robert Powell. The couple enjoyed traveling together, often on a motorcycle or in their RV. Betty also enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with the girls or passing the time with cross-stitch or ceramics. Betty enjoyed listening and dancing to country music. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ovid, where she was active in several clubs over many years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert Powell.
Survivors include her children, Karen Mick of Woodrow, CO, Sharon Peckham of Star Valley, AZ, Randy Haskell of Holyoke, CO; brothers-in-law, Charles (Joan) Powell of Sedgwick, CO, Ted (Judy) Powell of Pittsburg, PA; sister-in-law Betty Powell of Ovid, CO; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been suggested in Betty's memory for the United Methodist Church of Ovid. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 10:30 am at the Ovid-United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kristie Firme officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Ovid Cemetery.
